It Had to Happen Eventually!

bathingMy little guy just loves to bath. He hears the bath water going and he thinks he’s Rocky moving to the song “The Eye of the Tiger”. (I like the song- never seen the movie.) I think this excitement stems from the fact that mom is removed from the picture for a time so there’s no cuddles and kisses. It’s male bonding time with Dad! YEAH!

I happily get other chores done while I hear the splashes in the background but last night there seemed to be more than splashes. …

I remember chatting with one of my friends whose little guy is the same age as mine. She gave a disturbing account of when her babe decided to spare her a nappy and change the colour of the bath water; I’m not talking about a pale yellow colour, I’m talking Khaki! The thought had never occured to me. Babies know they’re in water and just don’t do that sort of thing!

So as I was busy, my husband in a calm voice says: “It had to happen eventually.” I thought he was speaking to the little guy and didn’t pay too much attention until I realised the bath had come to an abrupt end, which I then questioned. Lets just say I was suprised at the answer.

I now know one of the reasons why bath plugs are on chains. You see, ours isn’t. For quite a number of minutes after receiving the news of what happened in the bath, I had to try and get the plug out of the drain. I first tried plunging it out but eventually had to get the chain above the water just enough to grab it. It was not pretty! I do not wish the experience on any baby bather!

Still on the subject of bathing…there seems to be a new craze- and I mean craze because it just lookes crazy. I’m talking about bathing your baby in a  type of bucket. The babies are positioned in what looks like the pictures in pregnancy books just before one is about to deliver. I guess that’s where the name “tummy-tub” comes from. It looks pretty safe because you don’t have to be as hands on as with a regular bath. It also seems as though more of the baby is in the water therefore there’s less body getting cold. tummy-tub

I’m not sure if I’d try it but have a look and tell me what you think!   http://www.tummytub.ie/ I know we used to bath in what looked like buckets (ie: the tub) anciently but do we really have to have that bit of history repeat itself?

They’re really popular in Europe and it’s almost hard to find a “normal” baby bath around there. I think it’s a little too mop & bucket for me, but they say it’s loads safer!

Amber likes to be a bit different though and has totally tossed the idea of bathing out the window… she’s a shower girl!

She loves it! The water spraying into her face as it bounces off her (and me), the sound of the shower… everything about it! Must say it is easier for us too! But does make us miss out on those gorgeous bath toys!! Have to get some for her to play with in the pool!

My oldest pooped in the bath when he was a little baby… the REALLY disgusting thing about it that I was having a bath with him! Still makes me feel yucky!!!! lol

That is just so funny, I can’t remember having a discoloured bath but I had a good chuckle at your chain story!
